Mayor Vadym Boichenko has met with Swedish Ambassador to Ukraine Tobias Tiberg. The parties discussed issues of security, economy and prospects for the development of the city.
Vadym Boichenko spoke about the achievements of the city over the past six years. In particular, he noted the formation of a new transport model, the creation of a European level in the provision of utilities and social services, the reconstruction of schools and hospitals.
‘Today we are developing a Strategy for the development of the city until 2030. It will identify key growth points for Mariupol. The focus is on creating new opportunities for young people. Therefore, we focus on the development of the IT industry, education and medicine,’ Vadym Boichenko said.
According to the Mayor, the opening of the first in Ukraine IT-school on the basis of school No.7, construction of a full-fledged medical complex and the possibility of creating a private technical university are among the key projects that can become a support in building a new economic model.
Tobias Tiberg stressed that Sweden is a supporter of Ukraine in terms of political and economic potential.
‘We always stick to it. In Mariupol there are good conditions for investment. It is nice that there is a Swedish company in the city, which conducts training and coaching in the field of IT. It is inspiring that, despite all the challenges, you are focusing on development,’ the Swedish Ambassador said.
