The final module of the Master of Public Administration program has started. The first lecture for students was given by Mayor Vadym Boichenko. He spoke about the ability to change thinking and also shared the secrets of his own success.

Master of Public Administration is a unique project for Ukraine. It has no analogues in the country. The initiator is Mariupol City Council. It is held with the support of Metinvest Group. The project participants are 30 heads of municipalities from Mariupol, Zaporizhia, Krivy Rih, Kramatorsk, Avdeevka and Pokrovsk.

The program provides 14 training modules in budgeting, green development, local government, marketing, branding and management. Afterwards, students undergo an internship and defend their projects.

‘The MPA program is designed to make leaders effective managers, the first priority for them is to develop cities and make people's lives better. We move away from inefficient work models. We are changing the thinking format of managers, and together with them we are changing the principles of work,’ Vadym Boichenko emphasizes.

During the lecture, Vadym Boichenko noted the importance of applying a systematic approach. In his opinion, you need to plan, get out of your comfort zone and take responsibility to change your thinking. It is important to gather a team of people with different temperaments with common goals, to think critically, to talk to people, to hear them and to make non-standard decisions.

‘Due to these rules and non-standard solutions, they made Mariupol different. For example, they created a creative space on the basis of a classical library - an IT hub and an electronic library. The largest Multicenter in Ukraine appeared on the basis of an abandoned building. The old water tower has become a center for tourism development,’ the Mayor stressed.

He added that Mariupol does not stop there and makes dreams come true. We have already started implementing projects to modernize the entire water supply network, build a steel house for qualified specialists and reconstruct the beach in the Left Bank district. The plans are to create a medical campus, a new stadium and the appearance of Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower in the city.
