Mariupol City Council and the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. As a part of its implementation, the fund plans to allocate about UAH 15 million for housing for new Mariupol residents and repair work in two kindergartens.
At the meeting, the interests of the parties were represented by the Deputy Mayor Mikhail Ivchenko and the Deputy Executive Director of the USIF Oleg Ovchinnikov.
‘We are fruitfully working in this direction. 200 of families of IDPs have received flats. There are 620 more in line.It is necessary to prepare the design and estimate documentation, according to the result of which we will receive financial support and reconstruct the premises for the creation of flats,’ Mikhail Ivchenko said.
He also spoke about implemented projects. Thus, with the financial support of the European Union, they opened the first social hostel in Ukraine for IDPs. Under the program of co-financing of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, two residential buildings were reconstructed and 39 flats were equipped. More than 130 flats were purchased with the financial support of the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories.
Oleg Ovchinnikov thanked partners for their desire to create comfortable conditions for internally displaced persons.
‘Cities from all Donetsk region take part in our program. The fact that we are here today proves once again that when someone really wants to solve problems, he finds opportunities for that. Your Mariupol community confirms this,’ Oleg Ovchinnikov stressed.
In the framework of further cooperation with USIF, it is planned to replace the roof in two Mariupol kindergartens.
