Today, a meeting of the executive committee has been held in Mariupol. 50 draft decisions were submitted for consideration. Among the key ones is the abolition of the planned tariff increase in public and private transport. The order to cancel the price increase was given by  Mayor Vadim Boichenko during a visit to depot No. 4 in the spring of the current year.

The director of the department of transport and communication Vasily Klat made a report on this issue. He noted that in February the executive committee decided to change the fare in private and public transport. From March 1, the price of a ticket in minibuses and public buses was UAH 8 and in electric transport - UAH 7. The adoption of this decision was mainly associated with an increase in the level of wages and salaries for employees of MTTA, which was increased from 20 to 40%.

Besides, this decision implied an increase in travel from August 1 to UAH 9 in route taxis, communal buses and up to UAH 8 in electric transport, in connection with the implementation of the project to update the vehicle fleet.

‘The terms of the project implementation were shifted due to a number of bureaucratic procedures. This was the basis for the abolition of the planned tariff increase in August. We were given such an instruction by Mayor Vadim Boichenko back in April during the visit to depot No. 4,’ Vasiliy Klat said.

The director of the department of transport and communications told about the progress of the investment project to update the municipal bus fleet. Thus, 17 new buses will arrive in the city by September, 20. They are made at the Minsk Automobile Plant and are now undergoing technical control and run-in. The first two buses are already in Kiev at the customs clearance.

‘What we are doing today for the development of transport infrastructure is an example of consistent and constructive changes. We create conditions, solve dozens of bureaucratic issues. The goal is to create a comfortable environment for our residents. We take a strong stake in the negotiation process with private carriers creating a public transport market’,
the Mayor noted.

Now the issue of transferring buses to the MTTA balance is under consideration by the anti-monopoly committee.

By the end of the year, 64 buses will have been delivered to the city. 15 large-sized - with a capacity of up to 170 people and 49 standard buses will be among them. Also since June 27, tender procedures have been announced for the purchase of 72 new trolleybuses. In September, it is planned to sign an agreement on their delivery. The municipal park renewal project is being implemented jointly with the Mariupol City Council, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Buses and trolleybuses have the maximum configuration. They include driver and cabin air conditioning, built-in warning system and video surveillance and routing signs. They are low-floor vehicles. This will provide a comfortable environment for people with disabilities.
