Today General Director of Metinvest Group Yuriy Ryzhenkov and Mayor Vadym Boichenko have laid a "capsule" in the construction of the first steel apartment building in Ukraine. The construction project was developed by the winners of the Steel Freedom Architecture Festival 2018 competition for young architects.

“For the first time in Ukraine, a social residential building with a steel frame is being built. It will become a landmark for Mariupol and the country. Its appearance and technical solutions will fully comply with European standards. The project will reduce the city's need for social housing,” Vadym Boichenko said.

Thus, in a two-entrance building for 120 flats in Amurskaya Street there will be 8 floors. Its frame will be erected from steel structures. Similar houses exist in most countries of the world. For example, in the US and UK, steel construction in the housing stock reaches 70%.

“In the world, steel construction is a fairly popular direction. It is noteworthy that in London, most of the modern skyscrapers, including the tallest in Europe, are built of Mariupol steel. This inspired us to develop such a construction in Mariupol,” noted Yuriy Ryzhenkov.

Metinvest Group, together with the Mariupol Development Fund, will produce metal structures of the house frame on a non-returnable basis. Due to this, the market value of a square meter of living space will be reduced. Moreover, the steel solution will reduce the construction time of the facility. In December 2021, it is planned to hand over the keys to the residents of the new house. These will include representatives of the fields of medicine, education, law and order and employees of enterprises.

Aditionally, on the land plot, the adjoining territory, sidewalks, green spaces will be equipped, benches, a gazebo and other improvement elements will be installed.
