Today, Mariupol City Council has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ukrainian Social Investment Fund. The document is devoted to implement a number of initiatives to improve the medical infrastructure and services. Among them is energy-efficient modernization in the outpatient center 3 and the Primary Health Care Center No. 4. The German Government is implementing the project.

First Deputy Mayor Mikhail Kogut appreciated the partners for the opportunity to implement such important social projects. ‘In the context of the pandemic, we have stepped up funding for the healthcare sector. Today, several district dispensaries, as well as children's infectious department, are under reconstruction. This agreement will give us additional tools and accelerate the modernization of the medical infrastructure,’ he said.

Deputy mayor Ksenia Sukhova emphasized that healthcare is a key area where residents want and see positive changes: ‘Therefore, the help of partners and international donors is invaluable here. We are developing a medical service in Mariupol, focusing primarily on a person. We are improving working conditions for staff and the quality of services for patients’.

The Director of the Southeast Regional Representative Office of Ukrainian Social Investment Fund Vasily Gurtnik noted that Mariupol is actively developing in the direction of high-quality medical services for the community.

Within the framework of this project, it is planned to finance an energy-efficient renovation of the outpatient facilities, namely: overhaul of the roof and insulation of the facade. The planned amount of financing is about UAH 6 million. They will also conduct series of trainings for doctors and heads of medical institutions.

‘Promoting the development of social infrastructure - improving primary rural medicine’ project was initiated by the German Government. A grant of € 14.5 million has been allocated for its implementation in Ukraine by the KfW Development Bank. The Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) is implementing the project in cooperation with territorial communities and the leadership of primary health care institutions.
