Mariupol is among the leaders of the most transparent cities in Ukraine in the corresponding rating of the Transparent Cities project, Transparency International Ukraine. The public organization puts Mariupol as an example which, working on the principles of transparency, increases the trust of international partners and attracts multi-million investments.
Thus, the Government of France will invest EUR 64 million in a comprehensive solution to the problems of water supply in half a million Mariupol. The EIB will allocate about EUR 30 million for a comprehensive replacement of water supply networks and the reconstruction of the city’s pumping stations. The EBRD invests about EUR 33 million in the construction of the modern transport model IFC, E5P, which will be used to purchase almost 140 units of modern transport and reconstruction of the depot. European Investment Bank in the reconstruction of the external lighting of the city sends EUR 17 million.
Leading positions in the transparency rating of the cities of Ukraine, the introduction of electronic instruments of democracy, increased security - all this has become a necessary criterion for attracting foreign investment. They will go to the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and a comprehensive solution to the key problems of the city.
‘Transparency is money. And these are not empty words - Mariupol city council proves by its example. In the meantime, we are inspired by the experience of Mariupol in attracting funds to the city budget due to high positions in the Transparency Rating of Ukrainian cities,’ Transparency International Ukraine noted.
It is worth noting, in 2017 Mariupol took 57th place in the rating of transparent cities of Ukraine. In a short time, the city improved its performance, introduced new services and best practices. In 2018 Mariupol became the leader of the rating. Last year it was the first to go to the club ‘Transparent City of Ukraine’. It was marked with a plaque from the international organization Transparency International. This award is awarded to those cities that have overcome the mark of 80 points out of 100 possible.
The budget of Mariupol City Council is reliably protected. Including transparency rating. Funds of the community are effectively directed to solving the pressing problems of the population. As a result, Mariupol implements ambitious projects and introduces innovative solutions.
