Mariupol has opened a new page in the transformation of the transport infrastructure of the city. 64 new buses, purchased as part of a joint project of Mariupol City Council and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), have already replenished the city park. New routes and "strengthening" of existing ones are planned to be done. Mayor Vadym Boichenko controlled the new opportunities.

He appreciated the drivers and supervisors for their work. The Mayor emphasized that through the joint efforts of the municipality and Mariupol tram and trolleybus department, one of the most pressing issues for Mariupol residents was resolved.

‘Our task is to create a quality workplace and quality service for residents. We are confidently following this path. We must have a common transport model that implements uniform rules for everyone. With these innovative solutions, we show that our city is a showcase of the restored Donbass,’
the Mayor noted.

According to the director of the Department of Transport and Communications, Vasyl Klat, a significant path was reached that completely changed the transport model in a short period of time. Back in 2016, the city had 60 old trams, an emergency fleet of trolley buses and a completely missing fleet of buses.

‘About 240 million hryvnias of investments have been attracted to replace the old transport for three years. Due to this, 113 vehicles were replaced,’ he said.

Today, 60 buses leave the city line daily. Three new routes have been launched: 16A, 28A, 18A. New vehicles are modern and comfortable.

The head of the MTTD  Vitaliy Donev emphasized that the cars are equipped with engines of the Mercedes brand and an automatic transmission that improves comfort and reliability. There is an automatic sounding of stops and an air conditioning system in the cabin. There are ramps for transporting people with disabilities. It is planned to launch two more new routes in March and April. They will run along the main avenues.
