In August, Freedom Square lighting project won one of the nominations at the IES Illumination Awards, a worldwide professional lighting design competition headquartered in New York. Today, the author of the project, Mykola Kabluka, presented the award to Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
“We have involved the best specialists in the field of architecture and design in the transformation of Freedom Square. And we see that their work is recognized at the world level. Freedom Square is not just a comfortable place to stay. This is a symbol of the development of Mariupol, ” the Mayor said.
The IES Illumination Awards honor people for professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design based on the individual merit of each work. This year, projects from Los Angeles, Boston, Fuzhou and Mariupol were recognized as the best.
“By implementing lighting projects, we prove that Mariupol is a city of transformations and innovations. Today it is changing its look from an industrial city to a tourist attractive city by the sea, ”Mykola Kabluka said.
