The pioneer will be bus route No. 16A, which connects ‘Zapadny’ residential area with ‘Vostochny’ microdistrict. Residents of the city will be able to pay for travel using bank cards and more. The director of the Department of Transport and Communications Vasyl Klat told about this.

‘The implementation of this project is another step towards creating European conditions in the city transport of Mariupol. Moreover, it is not only the comfort of passengers, but also the transparency of work. The buses will be equipped with validators - devices that allow you to pay for travel using bank cards, mobile phones and smart watches. If passengers pay in cash, the conductors will be able to apply their special card,’ he said.

Vasyl Klat added that Mariupol is the first city to introduce an electronic ticket in municipal transport within the framework of ‘Smart Ticket’ state project. The service involves the creation of a single e-ticket for all types of transport, including trains, planes, buses and even the underground. The ticket will be valid throughout Ukraine.

The first buses with installed validators will travel around the city at the end of April. After that, an analysis will be carried out and a decision will be made to enlarge the service to all municipal transport.
