The first in Ukraine center for interaction with society and police is opened in Mariupol (PHOTOREPORT)

Today, the opening of the first Community policing expert center in Ukraine has taken place at the Donetsk Law Institute, with the support of the Advisory Mission of the European Union and Mariupol City Council. Its goal is a transparent partnership between the public and the police.

‘Mariupol rightfully bears the title of a safe city and the secret of our success in the field of security lies in unity. Mariupol City Council is always ready to support educational innovations that will allow us to develop this area for the benefit of all residents of society,’ Fyodor Tsapiy, Director of the City Council's Legal Department said.

Antti Hartikainen, representative of the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine, noted the achievements of the Ukrainian partners in the development of fruitful cooperation for the sake of peace and security in communities.

The mission of the Center is to become a leading analytical center in the implementation of community policing. He will provide expert support and propose innovative solutions to ensure public safety and enhance the interaction of the police with the public.

The center has equipped a training room, a conference room and a coffee break area. A police training curriculum based on international standards was developed. We have created a team of experts on policing, and trainings for trainers from EUAM will take place in May.
