The results of the survey of the Youth Welfare Index have been summed up in Mariupol. More than 700 people took part in it. The youth of our city had the opportunity to express their opinion about their own well-being and life in Mariupol.

We remind you that in the fall of last year, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Mariupol City Council and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with the support of which this program was implemented in the city. Mariupol became one of the nine cities in Ukraine, where the Youth Welfare Index was determined.

The methodology for calculating the Index is the same for all cities. The surveys covered 7 blocks: education, health, economic opportunities, political and public participation, safety and security, and information and communication technologies.

The index made it possible to comprehensively assess the level of well-being of youth in the city. The General Index of Mariupol is above average and is 0.63 (the maximum score is 1 point). According to him:

1. Participation in political life - 0.44

2. Education - 0.50

3. Economic opportunities - 0.64

4. Participation in public life - 0.61

5. Health - 0.71

6. Information and communication technologies - 0.97

During the presentation of the results of the Well-being Index, young representatives of the United Nations Population Fund expressed a desire to cooperate with Mariupol on further projects.

“The Youth Council has started working on the results of the indicators now. In all directions, meetings were held between the specialized structural divisions of the city council, specialists and organizations. Based on their results, key issues in the opinion of young people that need to be addressed were formed. The activities of the Youth Council in 2021 will be aimed at this, ”the chairman of the Mariupol Youth Council Alina Kozytska said.
