Mariupol has joined the CoST Infrastructure Transparency Initiative. The relevant memorandum was signed by the city council. Mariupol has become the fifth city in Ukraine to increase its transparency in infrastructure.

"Mariupol has taken another step towards transparency and openness. In partnership with CoST, we will increase the organizational and financial efficiency of urban road management. We will increase the level of availability of information about the city road construction and repair facilities for all stakeholders, " Mayor Vadym Boichenko said.

According to the Memorandum, each of the signatories has undertaken certain obligations. In particular, the city authorities will disclose information on infrastructure projects that are being implemented in the city, according to the international standard OC4IDS (Open Contracting for Infrastructure Data Standart). And CoST, in turn, on a regular basis to provide comprehensive support and advice.

“We regularly train all partners of the Initiative in the competent implementation of procurement, as well as the basics of monitoring the quality of road works, design and application of modern materials and technologies. This significantly improves the skills of road workers, and therefore increases the efficiency of their work and the quality of local infrastructure, " the executive director of CoST Ukraine Svyatoslav Abramov said.

Note that the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST) is designed to ensure the transparency and accountability of public construction. The initiative brings together government, the public and business. Kyiv, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi have already joined the Initiative.
