This year it is planned to open the largest swimming pool in Donetsk region. The renewed "Neptune" will become an object of the Olympic level. There are eight such pools in Ukraine. But Mariupol will be the most modern and affordable of them. Reconstruction is aimed not only at internal and external renovation, but also at creating an inclusive space for people with disabilities. This issue was considered during the meeting of the executive committee.
The project for the reconstruction of the pool was agreed with the city committee for ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities. Taking into account the expert opinion, the central entrance will be arranged, two inclined elevators will be installed on the internal stairways. This will allow you to move freely in the corridors and premises. There are specially equipped toilets, showers and changing rooms for people with disabilities. Organize lifts for lowering into the water and visiting the stands.
"Our task is to create the most comfortable and equal conditions for everyone who wants to play sports. All public places in Mariupol should be renewed and developed taking into account inclusive accessibility, " Mayor Vadym Boichenko emphasized.
The Mayor also said that the creation of an inclusive pool is being implemented within the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska "Without Barriers". Vadym Boichenko had signed a Memorandum on the development of barrier-free architecture in Ukraine before, which aims to create equal opportunities and develop a universal public space. Due to the state support, the process of reconstruction of the pool will be accelerated and it will be possible to open it this year.
The works are in progress. The pool will use advanced technologies for water and indoor air purification. In accordance with modern trends, a separate project has been developed to improve the area around the swimming pool building. The area will be divided into green and walking areas. In addition, a playground will be installed and a car park will be arranged. To date, 36% have been completed.
