Yesterday, during a session of the Mariupol City Council, it became known that the Government of Ukraine sent additional funding to purchase housing for the families of ‘new Mariupol residents’. In record time, 16 flats were purchased.

‘Mariupol is ready to realize ambitious goals. Our focus is on people and their needs. Mariupol is called the city of solidarity, which saw not a problem in the settlers, but the key to development. Today, together with ‘new Mariupol residents’ we are developing the city. I’m sure that with the support of the Government we can do more for them’, the Mayor said.

He appreciated Oksana Kolyada and her deputy Ruslan Kalinin, who recently visited Mariupol and talked with the families of ‘new Mariupol residents’, who received housing, due to support of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk, Minister for Veterans, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.

‘This is a real New Year's gift to the people who are developing Mariupol with us. It gives them confidence in the future. We were able to cope with the challenge and purchase flats as soon as possible. We hope for further cooperation and support,’ Deputy Mayor Mikhail Ivchenko said.

It is worth noting that in Mariupol, housing support programs for IDPs are being implemented. The city has the first in Ukraine social dormitory, two social houses for 39 flats. Earlier, 131 apartments for qualified IDPs were purchased at the expense of state and city budgets. This year 36 flats have already been bought for ‘new Mariupol residents’ under the 50 to 50 program together with the Ministry of Veterans, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.
