Mariupol with all Ukraine honored the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The requiem rally gathered representatives of the municipality, deputies, law enforcement officers and military personnel at Freedom Square.

“Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred gave their lives for a democratic, free and prosperous future for Ukraine. For Mariupol, they are a symbol of will and faith. It is symbolic that the rally is taking place exactly on Freedom Square, which personifies the path of Mariupol from confrontation to peace and development,” Deputy Mayor Arkady Meshkov said.

Those gathered at the rally honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence and laid lighted lamps at the Peace Bell.

“Today reminds us of the events that mean a lot for Ukraine and Mariupol in particular. Since that time, our city has shown that it is an integral part of Ukraine. Mariupol has set itself the mission of being a showcase of the restored Ukrainian Donbass,” Deputy Mayor Serhiy Orlov said.

Also today, in memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, at 18:10, a laser projection in the form of a candle will be turned at the Peace and Freedom Square.
