Today twin towns and ex-mayors greet Mariupol with 240th anniversary. The mayor of Akmenes district of Republic of Lithuania Vitaliyus Mitrofanovas and the City Mayor of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskiy Taras Kostin addressed to the citizens of the city with an opening speech.
Vitaliyus Mitrofanovas admitted that Lithuania has always been a friend of Ukraine: ‘I am very glad that we signed an agreement of cooperation with the Mayor two years ago. The society of international support has been created by your compatriots who live in my city. ‘The way to dream’ has already done a lot of projects. Children from ATO zone have rest in our district, we have heard your bands performing at our state holidays. I see the way your city is improving and the way it is changing. The main thing is smile. Your faces show that Mariupol is growing, it is getting better and stronger’.
He brought a present to Mariupol that was a horseshoe with the bell. According to him, it should go hand in hand with luck. One of the purposes of the bell is to ring the bell in case of the approach of the threat. ‘If the threat is approaching, ring the bell. And we will come for help. We are always with you and we will support us. Let this bell ring just on holidays and raise a good mood!’, Vitaliyus Mitrofanovas wished.
Taras Kostin told that partnership unites Mariupol and Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskiy.

‘Be happy! We wish you victory, peace and well-being. Don’t ask the question what a city should do for you. Do everything that is possible for our city and it will become better and more beautiful. Yuriy Khotlubey told that about 30 years of conscious living connects him with the city. He emphasized that the best years of his life (over 20 years) he was at the position of the city mayor.
