The delegation of the Office of the Attache on Defense of the US Embassy in Ukraine has visited Mariupol. They met with the representatives of the city and regional councils. The parties discussed issues of defense and further cooperation.
The representatives of the American side inquired about the current situation and the problems that exist in the Donetsk region and Mariupol. Deputy Mayor Yaroslav Khotnyansky told about the work carried out in the city regarding the safety of residents. He stressed that Mariupol is among the safest cities in Ukraine.
‘Security is at the center of our attention. Since 2016, over UAH 100 million have been invested in the security issue. The city authorities, the National Police and the National Guard could enter the ten safest cities in Ukraine,’ he said.
Defense Attache at the US Embassy in Ukraine Thomas Wofford noted that the US is actively supporting Ukraine in security matters.
‘This year we have allocated $ 350 million to support the armed forces. Now we want to pay more attention to the naval forces. We will also continue the annual Sea Breeze joint exercises,’ he said.
At the end of the meeting, Yaroslav Khotnyanskiy handed guests memorable gifts about Mariupol and appreciated their attention to the problems of the city.
