The situation with the incidence of COVID-19 in Mariupol is still tense. In this regard, the city commission on technical and environmental safety and emergencies decided to introduce additional restrictions on public transport from November 15. From this date, free travel will be provided to pensioners only after the presentation of a certificate of vaccination with one or two doses.
“Pensioners are at risk and have a hard time COVID-19. Most of the inpatients are elderly people. The risk of death is high. Now our task is to protect them as much as possible from the threat of contracting coronavirus, ” Deputy Mayor Arkady Meshkov said.
Director of the Health Department Andrii Rempel said that mass vaccination will help reduce morbidity and mortality, both among pensioners and other groups of the population: "The experience of countries with a high level of vaccination shows that vaccination significantly reduces the risk of contracting covid and minimizes complications after the disease."
Arkady Meshkov also emphasized that if the situation with the incidence remains tense, the special commission will consider the issue of introducing restrictions on travel in public transport for all unvaccinated passengers in the city.
