During his working trip to Donetsk region, the President of Ukraine has visited Mariupol. He congratulated the defenders of Ukraine on the holiday and presented state awards. The event was attended by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
“On this day, we bow and appreciate everyone who defended our country. We remember how we preserved our sovereignty, Ukraine, and our independence. How thousands of heroes did this hard work at the cost of their lives, and we will never forget everyone who died defending our state, ”Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President also appreciated the volunteers, journalists, cultural figures and diplomats who worked on the front lines. With a minute of silence, all the present honored the memory of those who died defending Ukraine.
After the speech, Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented awards to the best military men for their courage and dedication. Among them, Serhii Diatlov, a volunteer from Mariupol, was posthumously awarded the Order For Courage, III degree. His wife Anastasia Chub and two sons received the honorary award from the hands of the President.
