Water, beaches and development strategy: France and Mariupol discussed joint projects

During the week, a delegation from France studied cooperation with the city in Mariupol. The work was carried out in three areas: the implementation of the project to modernize the city's water supply system, the reconstruction of embankments, assistance in creating a strategy for the development of the city until 2030. The results of the visit were summed up today. Specialists of French companies, First Deputy Mayor Mikhail Kohut, Deputy Mayors Sergei Orlov and Sergei Zakharov and heads of departments of the municipality held a working meeting.

“In Mariupol, tap water must be of high quality and affordable. The municipality is actively working in this direction. Cooperation with France will allow us to implement the project at a high European level. Due to this, Mariupol will become an example for other cities of Ukraine in the modernization of water supply, " Mikhail Kohut said.

Thus, the implementation of the first stage of the joint project is already underway. French experts conduct research on water sources and collect data on geology. Based on this, they will be able to determine where the most optimal water intake sites are and the location for the construction of the plant. In parallel, work will be carried out on general schemes and preparation of a feasibility study for the future water treatment plant.

The president of the French company Beten Ingenierie Jean Roche noted that the first developments will appear soon.

In addition, the project for the reconstruction of the city's embankments will be launched. The representative of the public benefit association "Coast of Aquitaine" Martin Renard, said that the experience of European countries will develop a phased plan for the improvement of the beaches of Mariupol. They will be modern and comfortable, while preserving the ecosystem of the coast. The work will take into account all the features of the Sea of ​​Azov.

The study of the seabed and soil with the help of special equipment and drones will be started in the spring next year. The Left Bank Beach will be the first to be renovated. Work is already underway there.
