Today, Mayor Vadim Boichenko has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Ms. Anka Feldguzen and the Consul General of Germany in Donetsk, Stefan Kyle. They discussed the issues of logistics, housing, decentralization, city development and further plans to strengthen German and Ukrainian relations.

The Mayor spoke about the history of Mariupol, which celebrates the 241st anniversary of its founding. According to him, the city has passed a large stage of formation and today is on the path to prosperity. This was made possible due to the adopted Mariupol-2021 Development Strategy, openness and budget. He noted that the work of the ‘Norman format’, which includes Germany, allowed to push the line of contact and make Mariupol safer during the military conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

‘Mariupol is developing rapidly today. I believe that through the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and the positive changes that are taking place in our city, we show how Ukraine can be successful. I believe in the mission of Mariupol to become a showcase of the restored Ukrainian Donbass’,
Vadim Boichenko noted.

Anka Feldguzen noted that for several years Mariupol did a great job. She liked the city and its strategic development plan.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed plans of further cooperation and exchanged gifts.
