Mayor Vadym Boichenko has held a working meeting with representatives of the German party “Alliance 90 / Greens” party chaired by its co-chairman Robert Gabek. The Mayor spoke about the dialogue of Mariupol with the business on the ecological reconstruction of iron and steel works and investments in communal “green” projects.
‘We see that businesses are gradually increasing investments in the environmental modernization of local enterprises and, in turn, are focusing on the direction of communal ecology. In the city, special attention is paid to the renovation of park areas and the increase in plantations. Today there are 12 parks and about 40 squares. A separate utility company has been set up to service them. Over the past year, it has planted more than 4 thousand flowers, almost 2000 shrubs and 333 trees,’ the Mayor said.
Vadym Boichenko told the guests about the large-scale reconstruction of the abandoned Veselka park and its transformation into one of the centers of family recreation. More than 200 thousand flowers have been planted in it. Now, with the participation of Metinvest, the reconstruction of Hurov Park with an area of 45 hectares continues, where the natural zone will be preserved and more than 800 trees will be planted.
The city also buys electric municipal transport. Today there are 69 trams and more than 90 trolleybuses.
Representatives of the German side noted the importance of urban initiatives and reaffirmed support for environmental development.
