A meeting of environmental problem solution has taken place in Mariupol. Municipality, business and society were the participants of the process. According to the results of the discussion, the sides came to the common lens that a city needs a complex Strategy of a stable development of Mariupol.
In debating, a City Mayor paid attention to the fact that ecology is a difficult system that consists of many elements. According to him, a new document that forms the basis of qualitative changes is needed to create a Green City. There will be an issue of CO2 reduction of emissions into the air among the key tasks. Thus, a transport infrastructure will be developed in a consistent manner and energy efficiency will be raised.
The heads of large business and society supported an initiative of the Mayor. Within the framework of suggested format, a Green office, that is going to unite the work of the representatives of the municipality, community, business, experts and investors, will be created. The City Mayor suggested to create Green committee of Mariupol. The goal of it is consolidation of community around ecological issues. The citizens of the city, who are not the participants of any political parties, will join it.
In discussion, the experience of Pittsburg in the USA was seen. As Mariupol, it has a developed industry, but since 80s, with financial support of the government, the process of diversification of economics has started. As a result, the other spheres have been developed. There is public health service, education, financial services and tourism among them. In presenters’ opinion, the same way may happen with Mariupol.
Regarding the results of the meeting, the sides have arranged about the following step – a determination of key vectors of work and formation of activity-specific expert group.
