Mayor, Vadym Boichenko, on the air of one of the national TV channels, has spoken about the development of medicine in Mariupol, the successful confrontation of the COVID-19 pandemic and plans to create a modern European-level medical campus in the city. The main task of Mariupol is to create conditions for the treatment of residents and preservation of their health.
‘For a year, Mariupol, like the rest of Ukraine, is fighting against COVID-19. Our city has formed a clear plan to counter the pandemic, based on the experience of both Ukraine and European countries. Mariupol organized the work of outpatient teams that visit patients and do tests. For this, a PCR laboratory is working. A provisional department was opened, where it is decided where to send the patient - to the covid or regular department. The success of Mariupol today also depends on the responsible position of the residents. As a result, about 90% of patients have already recovered from covid, ” Vadym Boichenko stressed.
In addition, they intend to build a modern regional medical center in Mariupol. The corresponding memorandum was signed with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. It is planned that it will include: a modern clinic, created according to the best European standards, several medical buildings, a laboratory, a university, a medical college and a hostel.
‘The third level of medicine remained in the uncontrolled territory. And today, residents of Donetsk region and Mariupol were isolated from high-quality third-level medicine. It was decided to create two educational hubs that will become a support for the region. One of them is in Mariupol. A medical university will be based on the basis of the innovative clinic, ”Vadym Boichenko stressed.
According to him, the creation of a medical center will solve the personnel shortage not only for Mariupol, but for the whole of Ukraine. Vadym Boichenko noted that international experience will be taken into account when creating a medical hub.
