Mayor Vadym Boichenko has taken part in the Forum “Electoral Reform: Assessment through the Prism of Values, Political Rights and the Quality of Procedures”. During the event, MPs, heads of state administrations, city mayors and experts discussed the specifics of the electoral process in 2020. In particular, we analyzed the conditions for free expression of the will of residents of Donetsk region and Mariupol. The organizer is OPORA Civil Network.
Vadym Boichenko said that last year's elections in Mariupol were transparent and open. This was the result of systematic work on the development of security in the city.
“We have opened a United Analytical Service Center (UASC), unique for our country, which has combined about 700 functions, a call center and 102 application. There are 380 cameras installed in the streets, of which more than 180 are smart cameras. Mariupol entered the TOP of the safest cities in Ukraine,” Vadym Boichenko stressed.
The Mayor also noted that security is a guarantee of the city's development. It is due to her that large-scale infrastructure projects have been implemented in Mariupol over the past five years. Major repairs of schools and hospitals are being carried out, parks are being transformed, IT hubs are emerging, and the transport system is being updated. As a result, residents felt their responsibility for the further development of the city and were actively involved in the electoral process.
“Elections are a key value for a European and democratic society. For Mariupol, the possibility of holding fair, open elections was fundamental. We have organized a safe and accessible electoral process,” Vadym Boichenko stressed.
The Mayor appreciated the organizers of the forum for creating a productive dialogue that will contribute to the observance of high electoral standards in Ukraine.
