Mariupol has developed a clear-cut action algorithm for taking patients with coronavirus infection, if necessary. Today the readiness of hospitals was checked by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
He visited the Emergency Hospital. There are 40 beds where adult patients will be treated. Now there are five Mariupol residents in the infectious diseases department with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus.
‘Out of 40 beds, nine are resuscitative. They are provided with anesthesia and breathing equipment, oxygen, and tracking monitors,’ the head physician of Emergency Hospital, Sergey Orleansky said.
At the expense of the city budget, personal protective equipment was purchased for employees of the infectious diseases department. Medical masks, insulating gowns, safety glasses, gloves and brushes. All these doctors are fully provided for 30 days.
In turn, Sergey Orleansky thanked the city authorities for the support of medical personnel. And also motivation - a double bonus to the salary of all employees of the infectious diseases department.
The Hospital of Emergency is also completing the installation of external and internal oxygen pipelines with the installation of 33 oxygen posts. A closed rack is being arranged where oxygen cylinders will be transported. There will be 47 points in total. The work is already 90% complete.
These events were funded by Metinvest Group. Such points will be equipped in three medical institutions of the city. For these purposes, the company allocated UAH 7 million.
The Mayor also visited the city hospital number 9. It is preparing to receive patients in the second stage. In the case of the development of this scenario, the institution will be completely redesigned to receive patients with coronavirus infection.
Vadym Boichenko examined the wards, where patients will be treated. Each will have five beds. In total, there will be about 300 of them in the hospital.
‘Each bed is provided with an artificial lung apparatus, a monitor. A defibrillator, a cardiograph, a pulse oximeter are installed in each room,’ Alexander Zheleznyak, head physician of City Hospital No. 9 said.
The hospital also carries out work on the installation of the oxygen pipeline, the ramp is being reconstructed with the installation of oxygen valves.
