Vadim Boichenko greets the winners of Makar Mazay Memorial

The final of the Ukrainian boxing championship among men dedicated to the 51st Makar Mazay Memorial has taken place today in Mariupol In total, 300 athletes from all over Ukraine took part in the competition. The finalists of the championship were awarded by Mayor Vadim Boichenko and the chairman of the Donetsk regional state administration Pavel Kirilienko.

On the last day of the competition, eight final fights were held. Mariupol boxer Rostislav Belostotsky also appeared in the ring. His opponent was an athlete from Zaporozhye in the weight category up to 52 kg. In a tense battle, the Mariupol resident  held the battle. According to the results of the competition, Mariupol athlete took the “silver”. In other weight categories, the winners were boxers from Kharkov, Kiev, Chernivtsi and Odessa.

Mayor Vadim Boichenko took part in the final award. He congratulated the athletes and gaev them well-deserved medals.

‘Today we have seen a bright boxing celebration. I want to thank the athletes for their strength, character and desire to go to victory. I appreciate the coaching staff for the hard work. Mariupol has become the epicenter of sports life in Ukraine for a week. I hope this will become a good tradition. Our athletes will glorify Ukraine far beyond its borders,’
the Mayor stressed.

The chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavel Kirilenko also attended the award ceremony. He congratulated the athletes on the victory and wished them to prepare to the Olympic Games.

The Mayor handed the honorary cup to the best athlete of the Ukrianian Championship and the 51st Makar Mazay Memorial. The best boxer was Alexander Khizhnyak from Poltava.
