Vadym Boichenko: No one is going to hand over Mariupol

Vadym Boichenko has held an emergency press conference on the current situation in the city. The mayor said the situation is under control.

Key messages from the mayor's press conference:

• The main thing now is to remain calm. No need to panic. Trust only official information. Mariupol was, is and will be under the Ukrainian flag;

• Today, a plan for the defense of Mariupol has been introduced. Our military went to the positions that, in connection with the martial law, were envisaged;

• All utilities are operating steadily. Municipal workers are on the ground. Nobody left. Transport operates in the city free of charge;

• Today there was a series of attacks on residential areas of our city. Bolshevitskaya Street was the first to be hit. As a result, four houses were badly damaged. A total of 12 houses were damaged. 5 injured adults and one child were recorded. There is no threat to their life;

• The second shelling was on 130th Taganrog division Str. There were also strikes on the airport where the Armed Forces are located. Three civilians were killed in the village of Pokrovsky near the airport.

“Today I met with our defenders and saw confidence in their eyes. I feel proud of our military. We keep calm. No one is going to hand over Mariupol,” the mayor of the city emphasized.
