Vadym Boichenko: The level of recovered from COVID-19 in Mariupol is 90%

A sustainable deterioration of COVID-19 is observed in Mariupol today. According to the statistics, the average amount of all the cases of illness for a day is 300 people in November 2020, in January 2021 is 100 people. The availability of beds for people infected with COVID fell by two thirds according to the statistics. City Mayor Vadym Boichenko informed about it at the concluding briefing.

“The level of recovered from COVID-19 is 90% in Mariupol. PCR laboratories hold the research works every day to determine ill people and neutralize the extension of coronavirus. The attitude of Mariupol residents who visit the doctors with the first symptoms of the illness is important in this issue”, Vadym Boichenko informed.

The Mayor told that the third possible wave of the pandemic is expected in the world and in Ukraine. In this connection, the municipality of the city together with medical workers, develop the algorithm of the further struggle with Covid-19 in advance. The experience of Mariupol and the analytics presented by the World Health Organization and world practices are taken into consideration.

The Director of Healthcare Department Andrei Rempel said about background of the possible third wave of the pandemic. According to his words, over 400 of additional places of bed capacity are planned to be created in February 2021. The total amount of the beds for the patients with COVID-10 is over 1000.

The first deputy mayor Mykhailo Kohut stressed that 688 beds will be supplied with the oxygen. 343 beds have been equipped. The works are held by means of Metinvest Group. The total amount of the equipment of oxygen points in the hospitals of Mariupol is more than UAH 60 mln. Today the internal wiring of oxygen points is held. It is planned to finish the works by October,10. Besides, oxygen concentrators for 286 beds are purchased.

All the necessary reagents and consumables were purchased to carry out PCR tests. Their number will last until the end of the first quarter of 2021. In hospitals where patients with Covid-19 are being treated, a stock of medicines for 45 days is provided. It is constantly being updated. In the centers of primary health care, 40 outpatient teams have been formed. They are fully provided with personal protective equipment. The medical staff, who is a part of the brigades receive a supplement to their salaries from the city budget. All medical staff who are part of the brigades have passed a special training.

Information about execution of quarantine events on January, 15:

Healthcare:

  • 1309 patients with confirmed COVID-19 are being treated in the city;
  • all patients are under medical supervision;
  • in total, 15 471 cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in Mariupol, 13 913 patients recovered.

Transport:

  • city public transport is operating normally;
  • transportation is carried out only in personal protective equipment;
  • daily sanitary washing and processing of vehicles is carried out. Disinfectants are provided.

Public utility:

  • all utilities are operating normally, all necessary services are provided to residents;
  • drinking water is analyzed twice a day. Waste water is analyzed every hour. There are no deviations;
  • utilities are continuously working to clear roads and sidewalks due to bad weather conditions.

Education:

  • distance learning for schoolchildren is conducted until January, 24;
  • classes are held as usual;
  • 6 659 children attend kindergartens.

Safety:

  • foot patrol of the streets of the city is being held;
  • health counseling is held during city patrol;
  • people who are on the self-isolation are checked.

Economics:

  • the work of the municipality on control of the work of the enterprises is continued.
