High-level medicine, comfortable hospitals of the European format, wards with ultra-modern equipment - this can be the future medical center of Mariupol. For expertise and study of advanced experience, Mariupol delegation headed by Mayor Vadym Boichenko had a working visit to municipal and private hospitals in Turkey.

‘Our goal is to create the most modern medical center of Ukraine in Mariupol, taking into account all innovative solutions. The experience of Turkey can help us in this. Over the past 20 years, this country has made a big leap forward, completely resetting the healthcare system. Today, Turkey's medicine is one of the best in the world,’ Vadym Boichenko said.

The delegation of Mariupol, accompanied by Honored Doctor of Ukraine Borys Todurov, visited two private hospitals in Istanbul, one of which was built from scratch and meets all modern standards, and the other was reconstructed into a medical institution. A real discovery was the municipal hospital in Ankara. Ankara Sehir Hospital is the largest in Europe and the third largest in the world.

Turkish medicine is fundamentally changing the perception of the health sector. These are hospital towns with convenient infrastructure. Treatment is centered around the patient and their comfort. This principle of operation is laid down in everything: from a wide and bright hall to comfortable wards. Everything is done to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible. According to doctors, a home-like environment calms a person and speeds up the healing process.

According to Vadym Boichenko, patient receptions resemble the principle of work that is used in Mariupol centers for the provision of administrative services. Fixed time, electronic queues and fast patient distribution.

‘The experience of Turkey will help Mariupol learn the best practices and build a medical center as quickly as possible. Ukraine today needs high-quality medicine and it also needs to expand its capabilities,’ Boris Todurov emphasized.

During a visit to Turkey, Mariupol delegation studied three aspects of the work that will form the basis of the future center. The first is the complex filling of the hospital: from equipping departments to equipment. The second is the organization of an effective treatment process around the patient and his comfortable stay. The third is to determine the format of the hospital's work: the provision of planned or urgent treatment.

‘We are delighted with what Turkey has done in the field of medicine.  They take care of the life and health of people. Mariupol set a goal for itself - to build quality medicine in the city. Therefore, it is important for us not only to create a modern hospital, but also to link it with a medical university. It is not enough to build walls and equip the wards with modern equipment, the necessary professional doctors who will work in the center. Thus, we will educate a high-class specialists. The medical center will open up new opportunities in treatment for residents of all Ukraine and will also allow developing leading directions for the region,’ Vadym Boichenko said.

It is worth noting that on March 19, the Memorandum of Intent on the creation of a modern medical center was signed by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov, Mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko and the scientific leader of the project, Doctor of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Borys Todurov. This marked the start of work aimed at strengthening the protection of the health of the country as a whole.
