Mariupol signs the Memorandum of stable green development within the framework of the Investment Forum in Mariupol

At the International Investment Forum RE: THINK. Invest in Ukraine the Memorandum of Cooperation in the framework of the project ‘Sustainable Green Urban Development’ has been signed in Mariupol. It was signed by Mariupol, Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih with the Metinvest Group.

‘The signing of the document will allow working towards improving the ecological environment of Mariupol. It is important that businesses help cities to grow. Metinvest Group is a socially responsible company that provides this opportunity and helps to bring our city to the international level in green sustainable development. We are the 25th in the world and the third in Ukraine to join the EBRD's Green Cities program. A Strategy for Sustainable Green Development is already being developed. It will help to solve environmental problems at the same level as Kyiv and Lviv have done’,
the Mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko noted.

The signed memorandum is another step towards the modernization of Metinvest Group enterprises that operate in Mariupol, Zaporizhzhia and Krivyi Rih. The company will assist in the implementation of a range of programs aimed at changing the environmental status. Mariupol enterprises will be modernized taking into account all environmental aspects.

‘Metinvest Group intends to create an example of true green production in Ukraine. To do this, we systematically develop and modernize our enterprises. First of all, we direct investments in environmental projects. From 2014 to 2019, the company has invested about UAH 35 billion into environmental modernization. For us, both the quality of our products and the cleanliness of production are important. We are moving step by step towards European standards. We have real projects for this and the key issue is financing’, Yuriy Ryzhenkov, Director General of Metinvest Group said.
