Mariupol City Council has signed a Memorandum with the National Police on joining the Community Police Officer project. Its goal is to provide each community with a separate officer who will not only work in this territory, but also live there.
According to deputy mayor Arkady Meshkov, the project will be implemented on a pilot basis in the villages of Vinogradnoye, Pokrovskoye, Berdyanskoye and Stary Krym. As part of the initiative, the police officer will report not only to the leadership, but also to the community itself. Thus, residents will be able to assess his work.
‘This project takes into account the best world practices. It provides for a new form of interaction between the police and society, which is built on openness and transparency. This is the first stage that we will implement. I am sure that over time we will expand the project to the entire Mariupol territorial community,’ the deputy mayor said.
It is worth noting that the project ‘Community Police Officer’ is being implemented by the National Police of Ukraine. It started in 2019. Now it has been implemented in 13 regions.
