Combating fake news, creating a single protected personal data base for use by state authorities, protecting information when creating electronic documents, teaching the population how to act correctly in cyber threats – all of these and other important topics have been discussed by scientists and practitioners during the scientific round table ‘Cybersecurity in the national security system of Ukraine: problems and prospects for development’, which was held at Mariupol State University.

The President of Mariupol State University Konstantin Balabanov recalled that the round table was held at the base of the university for the third time and noted that in 2017 a specialty, ‘Cybersecurity’, was opened at Mariupol State University.

This year, the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Dmitriy Zolotukhin, the representatives of the National Police, Security Service of Ukraine, Donetsk Regional State Administration, Mariupol City Council made presentations at the round table meeting.

The scientific view of the problem was presented by scientists of Mariupol State University, Taras Shevchenko Kiev National University and Zaporizhia National Technical University.

Dmitriy Zolotukhin noted that one of the main weaknesses of the cybersecurity system is the human factor, therefore, in order to increase the resilience of the system to threats, it is necessary to improve the computer literacy of the population and develop education in this area. That is why, according to the Deputy Minister, considerable attention and joint efforts are required by the training of specialists in cyber security.
