Mariupol Cardiovascular center has been one year old. Today it is one of the best medical facilities in all Ukraine. Modern equipment, major repairs and European-level chambers - everything has been done here to save the lives of Mariupol residents. The results of the year since the institution’s work were announced by Svetlana Makarova, Director of the Department of Health and Sergey Orleansky, Head Physician.
The main pride of the center is a new angiograph that cost UAH 18 million. In addition, there is an ultrasound diagnostic system with a sensor and a lung ventilation equipment. Due to modern equipment, the doctors performed 1006 operations per year. In total, more than 2.5 thousand people had treatment at the center.
‘Today, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Therefore, such a single center is a necessity. It opens up new opportunities for Mariupol residents to receive high-quality treatment without leaving the city. All employees were trained in the leading cardiac surgical clinics of Ukraine. Now work is being done with a medical institute to prepare new young employees,’ Svetlana Makarova said.
According to Sergey Orleansky, 3-4 operations per day are performed in a cardiovascular center. But there were exceptional cases when nine people had to be operated per day.
‘For a year of work, we reduced the number of deaths with myocardial infarction. The center provides assistance around the clock,’ the doctor said.
The plans are to complete the repair of resuscitation department, to purchase a second angiograph and create a consultative and diagnostic department.
