The reconstruction of the football pitch is being continued at the Boyko stadium. Dismantling works have been completed to date. A total renovation of the coverage and reconstruction of the stadium, taking into account the criteria of UEFA is ahead. The progress of work was examined by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

“Our main task is to inspire young people, through such innovative infrastructure facilities, to go in for sports. The stadium will fully meet UEFA criteria. Here it will be possible to host matches of any level. Including the Europa League”, the Mayor stressed.

Work on the reconstruction of the field began in August this year. Now the gravel is being backfilled. The field will have a heating system.

Its feature will be a combined coating. It combines artificial and natural grass. This will increase the amount of time the pitch is used. The stability of the base will protect the players from injury and create a more comfortable playing environment. Mariupol will become the second city, after Lviv, to introduce this approach. In addition, it is planned to replace the stands. The total cost of the reconstruction is over UAH 25 million.

Vadym Boichenko noted that the development of sports is divided into three key areas: professional, mass and club. Professional sports will have five priorities - football, hockey, swimming, Greek and Roman wrestling and boxing and artistic gymnastics.
