Today, a second laboratory has arrived in Mariupol to conduct research of coronavirus by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The equipment was donated to the Mariupol branch of the Donetsk Laboratory Center by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Mayor Vadym Boichenko got acquainted with the equipment.
The Mayor appreciated Rinat Akhmetov for supporting the city’s medicine. He stressed that only by combining the efforts of the central government, city and business can the overcome coronavirus pandemic.
The laboratory is compact and automated. It can detect viruses, bacteria, cancers and hereditary diseases, including the presence of coronavirus infection in the human body. The device itself is convenient to use. Only 1-2 days are enough to get comfortable with the new system.
‘This device is long-awaited and very significant for us. The main thing is timely. None of our branches in the region have such a device. Now we can work for the entire region,’ Volodymyr Tereshchenko, head of the Mariupol branch of the State Institution “Donetsk Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” emphasized.
According to the project manager of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, Mikhail Katerinchak, starting in February, Rinat Akhmetov sent UAH 300 million to fight COVID-19. To do this, he combined all the resources - a charity fund, FC Shakhtar, DTEK companies and Metinvest Group.
Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation gave Mariupol 15 thousand rapid tests to detect COVID - 19. They allow you to check a patient with a suspected virus in 15 minutes. Due to this, doctors can quickly diagnose and provide the necessary assistance.
