The center is created on the basis of the city hospital №4. 100 000 children from the South of Donetsk region can be served here. The result of the work was appreciated by Mayor Vadym Boichenko and Director General of Metinvest Group Yurii Ryzhenkov.

Infectious center consists of three reconstructed infectious departments and a unique bacteriological laboratory. The major repairs of two departments started in March 2020. In the beginning, the works were planned to be finished by the end of the current year. However, due to the financial support from the side of the partners of the city, this month the reconstruction was completed.

The total amount of the creation of the regional center is over UAH 28.5 mln. UAH 10 mln were allocated by Metinvest Group, the regional subvention is UAH 14,5 mln and the city budget allocated UAH 4 mln.

“Today due to the support of the region and Metinvest group, we are creating the following step to the development of the medicine of Mariupol – we are creating a unique regional infectious center for children. Soon it will be opened for children of the whole South of Donetsk region. It will save lives and keep health. The key issue is that our children will get top rank medical help. We appreciate our partners for help. Today we are struggling for the life of every Mariupol resident by joining forces”, Vadym Boichenko declared.

Juriy Ryzhenkov admitted that the support of the projects in the field of health care is always in the priorities for Metinvest Group.

“We are putting emphasis on complex projects which are realized with city and regional authorities, partners and we are creating the decision for medical establishments. The regional infectious center for children is one of the brightest examples of such cooperation”, Director General of Metinvest Group stressed.

All the departments, built in 1934, changed completely. According to the deputy mayor Mikhailo Kohut, the roof was completely changed and insulated, the facade and footing was strengthened, the full thermal modernization was held and the network of communication was replaced. New wards of European level are created in the departments, the wards are equipped with the system of ventilation and conditioning, there is a specialized ward for children with disabilities and two contagious isolation wards with separate exits.

The key element of the infectious complex is bacteriological laboratory. It is equipped with the most modern units that allow to screen intestinal infectious disease and respiratory infections. In particular, two new steam sterilizers to sterilize medical and laboratory instruments, tanks, biological specimen and nutrition medium are established. There is a system of determination of microorganisms. It is completely automatized that eliminates the influence of human factor and gives 100% authenticity.

It is worth noting, in 2020 almost 3 000 patients were treated in infectious department of the City hospital №4. As a result, the rate of the level of chronic illnesses dropped by 5%.
