During the meeting of the executive committee, new requirements for public bus routes have been approved. They must comply with the’ Euro 5’ environmental standard. Buses should be equipped for the transportation of passengers with disabilities and GPS, a video recorder for external and internal surveillance. The draft decision provides for a new form of contract with the carrier. According to its terms, penalties are provided in case the bus doesn’t arrive on the route according to the declared schedule.
According to Mayor Vadym Boichenko, in 2016, a strategic vector for the development of the transport infrastructure of Mariupol was set.
Director of the Department of Transport and Communications of Mariupol City Council, Vasily Klat, noted that in Mariupol the tram park was completely renewed for three years. In February, the new trolleybuses are expected to arrive. Under the contract with the international company IFS, Mariupol trolleybus fleet will be replenished by 72 transport units.
‘Today we set strict requirements for ourselves and for the private carrier, respectively raising the bar for the comfort of our residents. The main task is to provide quality service for Mariupol residents and leave the era of dirty minibuses behind. Due to close cooperation with an international corporation and partners, we have developed a transport model of Mariupol. We launched two new transport routes - 16A and 28 A’, Vasily Klat said.
This year, 30 new buses have taken routes 16A and 28A. They comprehensively supplemented the central arteries of Mariupol in accordance with the new transport system. Now, for residents of the city, trolleybus routes No. 15 and No. 2 work in these areas, and municipal bus routes No. 2, No. 16A, and No. 28A. These routes are enough for the comfortable movement of residents. Accordingly, the executive committee decided to exclude duplicate routes from the network - No. 117, 124, 131 and 157.
