During the meeting, the executive committee has adopted draft decisions regarding the approval of the personal composition of the Green Council under the executive committee. It will include 23 people. These are representatives of public organizations, business structures, health care workers, relevant committees of government bodies, deputies and active Mariupol residents.

‘Mariupol is on the threshold of an important unit that will help us develop one of the key areas for Mariupol - ecology. We see the changes in the city, so the task is to manage the budget effectively. The transparency rating opened doors for investment. The city received a financial resource for high-quality water supply, lighting, transportation and disposal of solid household waste,’
Mayor Vadim Boichenko noted.

Head of the Department of Environment, Energy Management and Labor Protection Vahagn Mnatsakanyan stressed that on December 20, 2018, the Green Council regulation, the composition of the initiative group and its main provisions were approved at a meeting of the executive committee. On December 26, the collection of applications from applicants started, and after, within two weeks, a vote was taken on the website of Mariupol City Council. Besides, two meetings of initiative groups were held, where participants presented their vision of the city's eco-development. According to the results, the most effective projects were selected.

The main activity of the council is to increase public awareness of the environmental issues. The Mayor of Mariupol added that due to the decision, Mariupol residents will have a real tool that will help develop the environmental direction.

‘As part of the work of the Green Council, it is necessary to determine the direction for investment. To settle the question of financing, to work out the algorithm for obtaining expertise. If Mariupol residents have suggestions, we are open to them,’
Vadim Boichenko summarized.
