In the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region a rally requiem has been held. It is dedicated to the memory of law enforcement officers who died five years ago during the tragic events of May 9. The deputies mayors came to honor their memory.
‘Today Mariupol is grieving for its best sons, who tragically died. We pay tribute to the parents and relatives of those heroes who gave their lives so that Mariupol could live peacefully. With this in mind, we will not be able to repeat the bloodshed,’ the first deputy mayor Mikhail Kogut said.
He was joined by the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region, Nikolay Semenishin: ‘May 9, 2014 is a tragic date for Mariupol. That day, during the storming of the police, six law enforcement officers and seven civilians were killed’.
Everybody who was present honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence and a triple volley of the guard of honor. At the end of the meeting, the participants laid flowers on the memorial plaque.
