Mariupol commemorates lost during the shelling of Vostochnyi district

Today Mariupol has honored memory of lost during the shelling of Vostochny district on January 24, 2015. A memorial service was held in the morning and a requiem meeting was held at 9 o'clock near the monument to ‘The dead in an undeclared war’. Electric sirens sounded in memory of the dead.

‘This terrible tragedy left an imprint on our heart. Our life, after this tragedy, was divided into “before” and “after”. Pain, tears, fear - we pass all this through the heart every time we remember January 24th. But this trouble rallied us. Humanitarian aid was sent to us from all over Ukraine. We learned the power of compassion and support,’
Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boichenko said.

The Mayor expressed his gratitude to all concerned Mariupol residents, metallurgists, rescuers, health workers  and representatives of the power block who took part in the relief of the consequences of the shelling and helped restore Vostochnyi district.

Deputy Mayor of Donetsk region Igor Stokoz and People's Deputy Sergey Matvienkov joined the Mayor’s words.

The rally-requiem ended with the laying of flowers at the monument to the dead.

January 24, 2015, as a result of the terrorist act on the East, thirty people died, 117 were injured of varying degrees of severity. In total, more than 370 infrastructure facilities were damaged.
