There was a flower-laying ceremony in Voyiniv-Vyzvolyteliv Square dedicated to the day of the liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders. Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, and his deputies together with the heads of neighborhoods paid tribute to those who desperately fought for the freedom of their country and the future of their descendants.
On the 28th of October, 1944 Ukraine was liberated from fascist invaders during the Second World War. Then, 6, 5 million people were killed during the fight for the freedom of their families, relatives and countrymen. There were 10 thousand of Mariupol citizens among them.
“It was a real feat for ordinary people, their desire for freedom and their desire to give us peace. And we must remember this. Today our veterans showed that we do not need anything of somebody else’s, but we will not give away what belongs to us ", - Vadym Boichenko said.
He also added that Mariupol thanked the veterans for their feat by deed, not by word. So, free pass in public transport is saved for them in Mariupol. The repaired Territorial Center will soon begin its work in the Central neighborhood. It will be full of new things. There will be a sports hall, a hairdresser and a seamstress for single senior citizens. Conditions in the geriatric department are also improved.
