At the meeting of the executive committee, they supported the implementation of a pilot project to introduce an electronic ticket in public transport. The pioneer is going to be bus route № 16A, which connects Zapadny residential area with the Levoberezhny district. Mayor Vadym Boichenko stressed that this is another step towards the formation of a European transport system.

"Mariupol is the first city to join the state project Smart Ticket. We consistently made way towards it. In recent years, the park of PU "Mariupol Tram and Trolley-bus administration" has been fully renovated and a modern control room has been opened. The key issue is that 80% of transport is municipal. Today we are on the threshold of modernization of the depot. The automated fare payment system is another component of the new transport model, ” Vadym Boichenko stressed.

Director of the Department of Transport and Communications Vasyl Klat said that Mariupol signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on the implementation of this project. Installation of 40 validators (transport terminals) in 10 buses will begin next week. The system will be fully operational in late March - early April.

“The fare will be paid by two methods: using a bank payment card and in cash. In this case, the conductor will apply his own card and validate the payment, ” the director of the department said.
