74 years ago the most bloody war in history ended. In honor of Victory Day over Nazism in World War II, a solemn meeting was held in Mariupol on the Square of the Soldiers-Liberators. Mayor Vadim Boichenko came to congratulate the veterans.
The meeting was attended by veterans, children of war, representatives of city authorities, police, schoolchildren and caring residents. In his speech, the Mayor noted that May 9 was in history forever, and the heroic deeds of the heroes will never be forgotten. He also thanked the veterans for Mariupol, which was restored with their hands after the war.
He was joined by the General Director of Azovstal Iron & Steel Works Enver Tskitishvili and the General Director of Illich Iron and Steel Works Taras Shevchenko.
For veterans, military and modern songs were played. City teams presented them with a congratulatory program. At the end of the event, the participants laid flowers at the foot of the monument.
After all, Vadim Boichenko with law enforcement officers laid flowers at the building of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, where on May 9, 2014, policemen died tragically.
