‘Mariupol-Volnovakha’ commuter train traffic has been renewed today in the railway station. The repaired vehicle is for 624 passenger seats and it will be able to go faster. Two repaired commuter trains are ready to go at the  appointed traffic route.

Traffic recovery of commuter trains occurred due to accepted decision of i/c chairman of the board of directors of ‘ Ukrzaliznytsya’ PJSC Yevgeniy Kravtsov under support of the leader of united forces operation – leiutenant general Sergey Nayev and a chairman of Donetsk regional state administration Pavel Zhebrivskiy.

Sergey Zakharov, the Deputy Mayor visited a grand opening. He admitted that commuter train opening is the following step to develop an infrastructure of our city.

‘Our city has been called a logistics dead end or even an island on the map of Ukraine. We need wide infrastructure opportunities to develop our city with a good potential. We start to be heard and constructive steps are being made by our side. This is the start of our way. The work has just been started in this direction for the citizens and guests of the city to be comfortable to reach a bright interesting and prospective Mariupol’, he emphasized.

A head of subdivision of suburban service of ‘Donetsk zaliznytsya’ regional division Alexey Borisenko informed that commuter trains will travel less than for 2 hours.

‘We have developed an acceptable extended train schedule together with the city and region leaders. Five pairs of commuter trains will be launched since today, thus five trains will be sent from Volnovakha and Mariupol per day. We have reduced the time of the train as much as possible. If an old suburban train shuttled with 2 hours and 25 minutes passage time, then the repaired trains will cover this distance in 1 hour 50 minutes,’ he said.

The opening of commuter trains has coincided with the summer season. Thus, the residents of Volnovakha can visit their families on the Azov coast.

‘Today, at the end of four years, we are restoring the suburban traffic. We do not dwell on this. We see the problem of Mariupol and we are working to ensure that the city has a decent transport connection,’ Sergei Bugaev, a director of the regional branch of ‘Donetsk zaliznytsya’ said.
