The reconstruction of the station has become possible thanks to the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Government of Germany. The total cost of the project was UAH 18 million 343 thousand. About 80% of the required amount was financed by international donors. Due to the investment program of the city water service company the works are done for the amount of UAH 4,3 million. Now more than 40,000 Kalmius district residents will be able to receive a quality service of cold water supply.
During the presentation of the project, the Mayor Vadim Boichenko noted that the building and the pumping station system in general was obsolete and did not have repairs for more than 30 years.
The water pumping station provides cold water for about 40,000 people living in the central part of the Kalmius district of Mariupol and about 700 institutions and organizations including the Ilyich Steel Works.
The project has become possible by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with the financial support of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which provided steel pipes, pumping equipment, stop valves, control cabinets with frequency converters and other materials for a total of UAH 14.0 million. The installation of equipment, repair of structures and structures of the pumping station building was carried out at the expense of the investment program of the city water service company for the amount of UAH 4.3 million.
