The new five-storeyed building of the Donetsk State University of Management, located in 7, Aerodromnyi Alley, has opened its doors in Mariupol today. In order to create comfortable conditions for training, the investments of the Mariupol City Council and funders amounted to about 20 million UAH.
The ceremonial opening of another displaced university in Mariupol was visited by Vadym Chernysh, the Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, Volodymyr Kovtunets, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, Vladislav Lavryk, the Deputy Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and heads of city-based enterprises.
Honored guests cut the ribbon, inspected repaired classrooms, and talked to students of the university.
The new building includes 6 lecture halls and 34 academic classes. There were carried out works on insulation, interior repairs, improvement, and also it was equipped with furniture and office equipment. There will be ‘Law and Social Management’ with ‘Economics’ faculties, as well as pre-university training centers, postgraduate education and Regional Center of Education.
The educational process in the new building is designed for 930 students of intramural and extramural forms of study, 343 of which are migrants from Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, 289 are from other cities, and 55 are from the gray zone.
It is planned to purchase a hostel for students and teachers in the future. At the moment, design estimates for reconstruction of the hostel are being developed, where 350 resident students will be able to live.
During the communication with students, Vadym Boichenko noted that the Mariupol family of higher educational institutions of the city was replenished by three universities displaced from Donetsk. He stressed that their relocation would create additional potential for the development of the city, allow the recruitment of qualified personnel to Mariupol from the internally displaced persons, provide the inflow of youth to the city for training and also would allow the preparation of young potential staff for work in municipal institutions.
In conclusion, the guests wrote warm words of congratulation in the agendum of the university.
