In the Mariupol Territorial Medical Association for Child and Woman Health, the overhaul of the children's neurological department is almost being completed. A regional rehabilitation center for children with nervous system breakdown will be created on its basis. The project cost is UAH 8 million. These are means of the city budget. The head of the city, Vadym Boichenko, controlled the progress of the repair works.

‘Children are always a priority for us. It is important to make all conditions of high-quality and comfortable treatment. Doctors will be provided with new equipment that allows us to provide services at the European level,’
Vadym Boichenko stressed.

The main feature of the repair is the installation of the elevator. Financial assistance was provided by local entrepreneurs. According to Natalya Sidorenko, chief doctor of the medical association for the health of a child and a woman, the absence of a lift was one of the main problems. The main office is on the second floor. Delivering sick children with disabilities was a difficult task.

‘Now there is an increase in the incidence of children with neurological diseases. In our region, there are 900 children with cerebral palsy. And we accept children not only from Mariupol, but also from other cities and villages. There is no similar department in Donetsk region today,’ the head doctor said.

The building has not been repaired for about 50 years. Now the institution has qualitatively changed its view. Now the work is completed by more than 90%. Contractors repaired the roof, facade, engineering networks and interior.

In neurology there will be an office for conducting an electroencephalogram, a chamber and a dining room. Needs for children with disabilities are taken into account. Vadym Boichenko checked the ongoing changes. But he made a remark in one of the offices where the wooden floor was not changed. The Mayor instructed specialized workers to correct the defect within two weeks.

In turn, the deputy mayor Ksenia Sukhova added that the hospital is the base for serving the children in the south of Donetsk region. It provides assistance to about 100 thousand children.

‘The key issue is to unite the best medical specialists and to provide high-quality equipment. Minimally invasive surgeries, due to which children recover much faster, are available to Mariupol residents,’ Ksenia Sukhova emphasized.
