Mayor Vadym Boichenko has spoken about this today at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Communities and Territories, which is being held under the leadership of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Mayor noted that Mariupol develops mass sports at the European level, and this year it plans to open the largest and most modern pool in the Donetsk region.

“Mariupol thinks about people's health. We have implemented a unique project within our country by launching the work of M-Sport utility company. 50% of the population in Europe is involved in mass sports, and only 12% in Ukraine. We developed a strategy for the development of sports together with FC “Shakhtar” three years ago. As a result, today 42% of Mariupol residents are involved in mass sports. This is our key achievement ,” Vadym Boichenko said.

The Mayor invited the President of Ukraine to the opening of the largest pool in the region - "Neptune". To speed up the project implementation timeline, he proposed to strengthen financial support from the state. Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised to help with the solution of this issue.

“Mariupol now has the opportunity to open another Olympic-level facility. There are only eight such pools in Ukraine. This is a 50-meter pool, which will enable our swimmers to become future Olympic champions, " Vadym Boichenko stressed.
